Patrick got his start as a reporter, writing for local newspapers where he covered Columbine High School shooting in 1999. After working in PR and as a literacy teacher he transitioned into law. Patrick gained early experience in construction defect cases during a legal internship, and then in the courtroom as an intern for the Jefferson County District Attorney, which laid the groundwork for his dynamic career in litigation and criminal defense.
As a Deputy District Attorney for Jefferson County, Patrick ran both juvenile and county court dockets. There he developed his exceptional trial expertise, often trying multiple cases a month and earning recognition for his courtroom performance. He later co-founded Driskell, Fitz-Gerald, and Ray, LLC, where he managed a three-attorney firm specializing in criminal defense and personal injury. While there he tried dozens of jury trials and secured multimillion-dollar verdicts in high-profile cases, including a premises liability case against a hotel and a widely publicized fertility fraud case against an OBGYN in Grand Junction.
Patrick’s breadth of experience extends beyond the courtroom, having taught prospective law enforcement officers and students, written legal articles on juvenile crime and coached children’s soccer. He has travelled all over the world, and spends his leisure time, reading, skiing and being a dad. This blend of litigation expertise, courtroom success, and community engagement highlights Patrick’s distinguished legal career and adaptability across varied roles and industries.
