Starting January 1, 2027, Colorado law will regulate certain uses of AI in business decisions. The law applies to residential real estate professionals and companies in lending/finance, insurance, education, healthcare, or essential government services.
Even if you’re not in a covered industry, the law applies to all companies that hire or employ Colorado residents.
Violations can cost up to $20,000 per violation under the Colorado Consumer Protection Act.

How do I know which kit I need?

What’s the difference between the Diligence Kit and the Compliance Kit?
The Diligence Kit is for businesses that don’t use AI in a way the law regulates. It implements a policy and gives you a documented record showing you checked. The Compliance Kit is for businesses that use regulated AI or want a comprehensive program in place in the event they do.
Is this legal advice?

Will I need to update this later?
The law’s first Attorney General rules are expected sometime before January 2027, and they may clarify how some of this applies. We monitor rulemaking and will reach out if an update is necessary. In the meantime, you’re responsible for keeping your AI policy current with your business’s AI use.
How is this delivered?
After you complete the Assessment, we will send you a request for payment. Once you make payment, we will deliver everything digitally to you.

What if I purchase the Diligence Kit, then my AI usage changes after I buy?
If your AI usage changes, the Diligence Kit requires you to re-run the evaluation checklist. If the new use is regulated under Colorado’s AI law, you must upgrade to the appropriate Compliance Kit, less what you already paid for the Diligence Kit.
